USA fights Sirex Wasp

The U.S. State of North Carolina has just issued its own Declaration of Exterior Quarantine for (Sirex) European Wood Wasp, which became effective on the

24th June. This has followed several years of research after a single Sirex wood wasp was discovered in the State of New York in 2004. Since this time the pest has spread to other areas in the Northeast U.S.
Subsequently, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services has imposed special quarantine regulations controlling the movement of Pine wood products (& packaging) from New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Vermont and any other state where pest has been found.

It is expected that talks involving the USDA-APHIS, NELMA, state governments and other organisations will be held in the near future.

Inka has spoken with key personnel within the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and we are advised that our current export certification still applies. However, we are assured that we will be updated should any changes occur. (July 02)

Top Quality!

We are delighted to advise our customers of Presswood Pallets & Composite Blocks (Euroblock) that earlier this year our Dutch factory appointed a specialist KAM Manager; responsible for assessing incoming raw material quality, in-process and finished quality, as well as environmental and H&S matters. While these issues have always been carefully monitored, it is expected that, with advanced developments in analysis procedures and enhanced design innovations, fine improvements may be made in the manufacturing methods to further improve performance of our products. Le Mans Series uses Presswood Pallets

The Le Mans Series (www.lemans-series.com) is a full season of endurance racing, with the the two category winners going forward to the Le Mans 24 Hour race. Having completed 5 of the 6 European races the final stage is to be held at Interlagos in Brazil. The logistics specialists DHL Global Forwarding selected our Presswood Pallets to meet ISPM15 requirements to ensure that there would be no delays at Brazilian Customs, as the schedule is demanding and timing critical. The F11 (1140 x 1140mm) and F76 (760 x 1140mm) pallets were chosen, as these allow full utilisation of container space, and were used by the teams to palletise wheels, spare parts, equipment, specialist fuels and tools. Of course, as Presswood Pallets are re-usable (and meet European import requirements) they can be used to get the teams & their equipment home safely. (Oct 07)

New Pallet Collar

We have recently introduced a new product to our range - The ECO-Collar. This exciting new alternative to timber and plastic collars is much lighter in weight and less expensive. The walls are made with a double thick corrugated board, which can be easily written on for fast and convenient identification; and the hinges are of plastic. This makes for a much safer product that can be used for internal applications or exported anywhere in the world without treatment. Download the PDF brochure here. (July 2007)

New size Presswood Pallet

A new size of Presswood Pallet is now available - 1140 x 760mm - Ref. F76. This has been purposely designed for companies wishing to export on a size similar to the Euro-size pallet. The slight reduction in size means that three pallets will fit across an ISO container, used predominantly for deep-sea shipping. Further details can be obtained by contacting us.

ISPM15 Regulations for Australia

ISPM15 is being implemented in Australia from 1st September. While this permits the use of treated timber pallets and dunnage, AQIS have confirmed to us that these regulations will run alongside their current regulations. This simply means that exporters using Presswood Pallets can continue as before without problems.

Inka Introduce a NEW Presswood Pallet

A new Presswood Pallet has arrived. It is a Euro-size (800 x 1200mm) pallet which replaces the F8M and F8S style. While the F8M and F8S were popular, the design was almost 30 years old.

The new pallet (see picture below) will replace the F8M and F8S pallet. The main modifications are a redesigned top surface for improved performance, and new shaped 'feet' designed to give extra strength. The new pallet also boasts recesses on each side to locate banding/strapping.

The new reference for this pallet is F8LF-2, for the 900kg capacity pallet; and F8LF-2S for the 1250kg version. All other specifications are as before - as is the price!

Export Regulations:

We have been hearing of a rumour that is circulating which doubts the suitability of Presswood Pallets for Australian bound exports. This rumour is not true. However, we would ask that all exporters using the Presswood Pallet ensure that the export certificate is fully completed; paying particular note to make sure that there is a numerical link (usually the container number) between the container and certificate.

Latest News - Argentina, Taiwan, Japan and South Africa have now declared that import regulations regarding wooden packaging are in place - contact us for complete certification for Presswood Pallets.
